Verification & cadence
- How do you verify a source?
- A maintainer opens the upstream URL, confirms the licence statement, and records the verification date. Verification also re-reads the upstream API or sitemap to confirm the route we cite still resolves.
- Why is the cadence sometimes longer than the verification date?
- Cadence describes how often the upstream typically changes; verification describes when a human most recently checked. Some sources (e.g. treaties) update on release, while we may re-verify quarterly.
- What if a source goes down or moves?
- CourtGPT pins a fallback mirror where the upstream allows redistribution (e.g. CourtListener /c/ cluster pages) and surfaces the upstream link whenever the canonical source is the authoritative publication.
