In all counties having populations of not less than 300,000 nor more than 500,000 according to the last federal decennial census, the chief deputy sheriff shall be paid a salary of not less than Range 41, Step D, twenty-nine thousand three hundred forty dollars ($29,340) annually. The salary to be adjusted at the same time and at the same percentage rate as merit system employees in the county. The chief clerk in the sheriff’s department shall be paid a salary of not less than Range 41, Step D, twenty-nine thousand three hundred forty dollars ($29,340) annually. The salary to be adjusted at the same time and at the same percentage rate as merit system employees in such counties. The chief investigator in the sheriff’s department shall be paid a salary of not less than Range 37, Step A, twenty thousand eight hundred fifty-six dollars ($20,856) annually. The salary to be adjusted at the same time and at the same percentage rate as merit system employees in such counties. The assistant chief deputy in the sheriff’s department shall be paid a salary of not less than Range 37, d at the same time and at the same percentage rate as merit system employees in such counties. The assistant chief deputy in the sheriff’s department shall be paid a salary of not less than Range 37, Step A, twenty thousand eight hundred fifty-six dollars ($20,856) annually. The salary to be paid at the same time and at the same percentage rate as merit system employees in such counties. The salaries of all the above-listed assistants in the sheriff’s department shall be payable in equal monthly installments upon warrants being drawn in the same manner prescribed for payment of compensation of county employees.
