In addition to all otherfees and costsprovided by law, a specialtransaction fee in an amount determined by the Pickens CountyCommission, but not exceeding five dollars ($5), shall be paid to the PickensCounty Judge of Probate when any public business is transacted in his or heroffice. The special additionaltransaction fees shall be collected by the judge of probate and deposited nolater than the 20th day of the month following collection into a specialfund in the Pickens County Judge of Probate office to be used at the discretion of the judge of probate for the costs of maintaining, preserving, and upgradingthe records and recording equipment and other services necessary for theimprovement of the office of the judge of probate. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the transaction fee shall not be used to pay salaries or benefits of office personnel.(Act 2007–220, p. 276, § 1.)
