Section 45-55-230 - Expense Allowance; Salary Increase

(a) Commencing on September 1, 1999, the Sheriff of PikeCounty shall be entitled to an additional expenseallowance in the amount of twenty thousand dollars ($20,000) per annum,which shall be in addition to all other expense allowances, compensation, or salary providedby law. This expense allowance shall be payable in equalmonthly installments from the general fund of the county.(b) Beginning with the expiration of the term of theincumbent Sheriff of Pike County, the annual salary for the sheriff shall beincreased by twenty thousand dollars ($20,000)per annum, payablein equal monthlyinstallments from the general fund of the county and at that time,subsection (a) shall become null and void.(c) The expense allowance and salary increaseprovided in this section shall be reduced by the amount of anyadditional expense allowance or salary increase granted to the sheriff pursuantto general law during the current term of office or effective upon thebeginning of the next term of office of the sheriff.(Act 99–218, p. 277, §§ 1–3.)
