At the general election of 1988, and every four years thereafter, thequalified voters of each district shall elect one commissioner from eachdistrict, who shall reside in the district from which elected and whose term ofservice shall commence at the expiration of the term of the incumbent. The members of the county commission shallhold their respective offices for the term of four years from the first Mondayafter the second Tuesday of January next after their election and until their successors are elected and qualified.(Act 86–323, p. 488, § 4.)
