(a) In Pike County, the county commission may employ a deputy tax assessor,a deputy tax collector, and a deputy clerk of the circuit court. The employees shall serve at the pleasureof the county commission and the compensationof the employees shall be set by the countycommission.(b) The county commission may employ clerks to assist the tax assessor, thetax collector, and the judge of probate in the performance of their officialduties. The number of clerks shall beestablished by the county commission. The clerks shall serve at the pleasure ofthe county commission and the compensation of the clerks shall be set by thecounty commission.(c) The county commission may hire additional part-time employees for anycounty department as the commission deems necessary. The part-time employees shall serve at the pleasure of thecounty commission and compensation of the part-time employeesshall be set by the county commission.(d) The compensation of all employees hired under this section shall bepayable in equal monthly installments from the county general fund or from anyfunds available for use by the county.(Act mission.(d) The compensation of all employees hired under this section shall bepayable in equal monthly installments from the county general fund or from anyfunds available for use by the county.(Act 83–537, p. 838, §§ 1–4.)
