Section 45-56-180 - Signs, Markers, and Advertising Regarding Political Campaigns

(a) Signs, markers, and advertising, pertaining topolitical campaigns, on the rights-of-way of state and county controlledhighways are prohibited in Randolph County except those official signs ormarkers placed thereon by the state Department of Transportation or by RandolphCounty or under the authority of either governmental entity. No sign, marker, or political poster may be attached to any officialsign or markerplaced by the department or bythe county or on any utility pole or tree on the rights-of-way of a state orcounty highway.(b) Any person violating this section shall uponconviction be guilty of a Class C misdemeanor and shall be subject, at thediscretion of the judge, to a fine in an amount of not less than fifty dollars($50) nor more than two hundred fifty dollars ($250) or up to five days ofcommunity service, or both. Any fines collected under this section shall bedeposited into the county general fund.(Act 89–229, p. 486, §§ 1, 2.)
