Section 45-56-60 - Compensation

(2) Effective beginning the next term of office of thecoroner commencing in January 2027, and each term thereafter, not less than 60days prior to the first day for qualifying in the election for the term, theRandolph County Commission may increase and set the annual salary of thecoroner commencing on the beginning of that term of office, and thereafter, asdetermined by the county commission.(3) The salaries provided in this subsection shall be inlieu of any other salary, compensation, fees, or allowances provided to thecoroner. The coroner shall waive anyother fees or compensation in order to receive any salary provided by thissection.(4) a. The Randolph County Commission mayauthorize the coroner to participate in retirement and the county health insuranceunder the terms andconditions as the county commission may determine and may expend county fundsfor that purpose. The Legislature finds thatthe Coroner of Randolph County is a full-timeofficial and is on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week to perform the dutiesof the office.(b)(1) TheRandolph County Commission may authorize the coroner to receive reasonable andnecessary expenses and supplies as determined by the county commission relatedto the operations of the office of coroner and the performance of duties of thecoroner. The expenses and suppliesauthorized by this subsection shall be authorized by resolution of the countycommission and shall be paid in the same manner as expenses of other countyemployees are paid or supplies for county employees are purchased or suppliedfor county employees.(2) In additionto subdivision (1), the countycommission may providethe coroner with a stipend to pay a part of the expense of the cost ofcell phone service, or in the alternative, may provide the coroner with a cellphone to be used in the performance of the duties of the coroner.(c) After the close of
