Section 45-56-70County Commission; Expense Allowance(a) The governing body of any county having a population ofnot less than 17,000 nor more than 20,000 according to the most recent federaldecennial census, is required to provide an expense allowance of one hundreddollars ($100) per month for each county commissioner and the chair of thecounty commission. Theamounts shall be paid out of the general fund of the county on warrantsissued by the chair of the countygoverning body. The allowanceshall be in addition to any other salary, allowance, or other compensationprovided by law to members of any county governing body.(b) The governing body of any county having a population of not less than17,000 nor more than 20,000 according to the most recent federal decennialcensus, is required to provide an expense allowance of two hundred dollars($200) per month for each county commissioner, but not including the chair of the county commission. The amounts shall be paid out of thegeneral fund of the county on warrants issued by the chair of the county governing body. The allowance shall be in additionto any other salary, allowance, or other compensation provided by law to membersof any county
