Any law to the contrary notwithstanding, the RussellCounty Commission and the sheriff of the county shall jointly prescribe thenumber of deputies in the sheriffs office. Thedeputies shall be paid in the same manner and from the same funds as are otherdeputies on the staff of Russell County.(Act 91–306, p. 563, § 1.)
