02Compensation of Commission Members.(a)(1)Effective May 1, 2022, each member of the county commission shall receive anannual salary of twenty-eight thousand dollars ($28,000) per year. The salary providedby this subdivision shall be in lieu of any salary, expense allowance, or other compensation providedby law on April 7,2022.(2) Effective May 1, 2022, the chair of the county commission shall receive an annual salary of thirty-fivethousand dollars ($35,000) per year. The salary providedby this subdivision shall be in lieu of any and all salary, expense allowance, or other compensation providedby law on April 7,2022.(b)(1) Thecounty commission, by majority recorded roll call vote of the entire electedmembers of the county commission, may grant to each member of the commission,not including the chair of the commission, an additional expense allowance,payable in equal monthly installments from the general fund of the county.(2) Any expense allowance granted to the members of the commissionshall become salary effective upon the next term of office following the term that theexpense allowance becomes effective.(c) Notwithstanding any provision of this section or any ers of the commissionshall become salary effective upon the next term of office following the term that theexpense allowance becomes effective.(c) Notwithstanding any provision of this section or any other provision ofthe law to the contrary, the total annual compensation of any member of thecounty commission, including salary, expense allowance, and other compensation, may not exceed the total annual compensation of the chair of the commission.(Act 2022–278, § 2.)
