20Employment of Investigators; Authority and Duties of the Officers.(a) The District Attorney of the Twenty-sixth JudicialCircuit composed of Russell County may appoint a chief investigator and fromtime to time additional investigators. Thechief investigator and other investigators shall serve at the pleasure of thedistrict attorney. The chiefinvestigator and other investigatorsshall meet the minimum standards for law enforcement officers and hold acurrent certification from the Alabama Peace Officers’ Standards and TrainingCommission.(b) The chief investigator and other investigators shallhave the same powers and authorities as deputy sheriffs and other lawenforcement officers in this state. Theinvestigators shall be paid in the same manner as other employees in thedistrict attorney’s office. Theinvestigators shall be responsible to the district attorney and shall performduties as assigned by the district attorney.(Act 2008–412, p. 813, §§ 1, 2.)
