(a) An elected board of education for Phenix City shall be established. The board shall be called The Phenix CityBoard of Education. The board shallbe composed of seven members, with two members being elected from each of thethree city council districts by a majority of the qualified electors voting whoreside in the district, and one member being elected from the city at-large. (b) Candidates for each place on the boardof education shallrun for a placeto be designated and numbered as follows: (1) Board Member, District 1, Place 1. (2) Board Member, District 1, Place 2. (3) Board Member, District 2, Place 1. (4) Board Member, District 2, Place 2. (5) Board Member, District 3, Place 1. (6) Board Member, District 3, Place 2. (7) Board Member, At–Large. (c) A candidate running forelection to the board of education shall specify which place on the board forwhich he or she seeks election. (Act 2017-450, p. 1486, § 2; Act 2019-151, § 1.)
