05Vacancy.A vacancy on the board of education shall be filled byappointment by a majority of the remaining members of the board of educationfor the unexpired term. A membermay not be appointed by the city council to fill the vacancy on the board of education. If the vacancy is not filled by theremaining members of the board of education within 30 days, the citysuperintendent of education shall notify the State Superintendent of Education, who shall fill the vacancy by appointment. A person filling a vacancy on the board shall reside in thedistrict in which the vacating member represented.(Act 2017–450, p. 1486, § 7.)
