06Election of First Council; Term of Office.Within five days of the date of his or her receipt ofthe certificate of adoption the judge of probatewith whom the certificate was filed shall call an election to be held on the first Tuesdayin September after the first full month ofJuly following the adoption of this part. The expensesof this electionshall be paid by the city. Beforecalling the election the judge of probate shall cause the city to be dividedinto three districts containing as nearly equal number of people as possible. Candidates shall qualify in the mannerprescribed in Section 45–57A–63.31 and shall have the qualifications andeligibility set forthin Sections 45–57A–63.32 and 45–57A–63.33. Each candidate shall announce if he or she is to become a candidate for mayor, or councilmember at-large, or if he or she desiresto become a candidate for one of threedistrict posts, either District Post 1, District Post 2, or District Post 3.
