The change, however, shall first be initiated by petition and submittedto a vote of the qualified electors at an election and shall receive at theelection a majority of the votes ‘‘yes’’ or in favor thereof in the same mannerand subject to the same requirementsas provided in Sections 45–57A–63.01 to 45–57A–63.04, inclusive, except thatthe proposition on the ballot shall be changed to reflect the proposed form ofmunicipal government to be submitted to the vote of the qualified electors. The officers and members of the governingbody of the newly adopted form of municipal government shall be elected as soonas may be under the provisions of the law applicable thereto; and upon theirelection and qualification for office the term of office of all members of thecouncil under the council-manager form of government shall terminate.
