At every election all ballots to be used by votersshall be printed and prepared by the election commission or other body havingcharge of the conduct of municipal elections in the city, and shall contain thenames of all candidates for each post directly underneath the words 'formembers of the council from Post ___.' No name shall appear upon the ballot as acandidate for election except the names of the persons as have becomecandidates according to provisions as above set forth; no ballot shall be used at any election except the officialballot prepared by the election commission or other body having charge of theconduct of municipal elections in the city, except that the names of candidatesmay be suitably placed on voting machines if the machines are used to conductthe election.
