§ 45-57a-63-172

Any person holdingan office or position in the civilservice of the city under any civil service or merit system applicableto the city when the council-manager form of government shallbe adopted shallcontinue to hold the office in the civil service of the cityunder the council-manager form of government and with the same status, rights,and privileges and subject to the same conditions under the applicable civilservice or merit system.
