Each member of the board, except the chairperson, shall receive an expense allowance of at least one hundred seventy-five dollars ($175) per month. The chairperson shall receive an expense allowance of at least two hundred twenty-five dollars ($225) per month. The expense allowances shall be for normal expenses incurred in the day-to-day activities of the board and shall be in lieu of any other compensation and allowances, except for reimbursement of unusual board related expenses that are approved in advance by the board to be paid from the board’s budget in accordance with procedures to be established by the board. These amounts may be increased by the county commission when required to meet incurred expenses as justified in writing by the board.(Act 96-479, p. 595, §9.)
