Section 5-22-6 - Criminal Penalties

(a) Except as provided in subsection (b) of this section, a person who willfully violates any provision of Section 5-22-3 shall in addition to other penalties provided by law, be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine of not more than $500.00 or by imprisonment for not more than 12 months or both.(b) A person who willfully violates any provision of Section 5-22-3, when the violation is:(1) Committed in furtherance of the commission of any other violation of Alabama law; or(2) Committed as part of a pattern of illegal activity involving transactions exceeding $100,000.00 in any 12-month period,shall, in addition to other penalties provided by law, be guilty of a felony and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine of not more than $500,000.00 or by imprisonment for not more than five years, or both.
