Section 8-16-2 - Standard Measure of Length, Surface, Weight, and Capacity

There is but one unit or standard measure of length and surface, one of weight, one of capacity for liquid substances, and one of capacity for dry substances throughout this state, which must be in conformity with the standard measure of length, surface, weight, and capacity established by Congress. Any firm, association, corporation, or person selling, offering, or exposing for sale any commodity by weight or measure which does not correspond with such standard or measure is guilty of a misdemeanor.(Ag.
