(a) The department may negotiate with an appropriate state or municipal agency in an effort to designate and acquire land for the temporary storage of vehicles before sale under AS 28.11.070, or for the final disposal of unsold abandoned vehicles. (b) A municipality that adopts an ordinance under AS 28.11.100 shall designate appropriate areas within its jurisdiction for the disposal of abandoned vehicles.
