§ 29-06-150

(a) When two or more municipalities merge, one succeeds to the rights, powers, duties, assets, and liabilities of the others. (b) When two or more municipalities consolidate, the newly incorporated municipality succeeds to the rights, powers, duties, assets, and liabilities of the consolidated municipalities.
