(a) A person convicted of an offense against the state shall be committed to the custody of the commissioner for the term of imprisonment that the court directs. (b) A person restrained under AS 26.05.400 or convicted of an offense by court-martial under AS 26.05 and confined under AS 26.05.405 shall be committed to the custody of the commissioner for the period of restraint or confinement as directed by the adjutant general.
