(a) A license is valid for two years. (b) A person may renew a license under AS 08.01.100. The renewal fee must be equal to the fee established under AS 08.76.110(5). (c) Notwithstanding AS 08.01.100(b), if a person fails to renew a license before the expiration date of the license, the person shall pay the department a delayed renewal penalty of $100 in addition to the regular renewal fee. (d) If a person fails to renew the person's license, the person may not engage in business as a pawnbroker until the person's license is renewed or a new license is issued. (e) The department may refuse to renew a license under this section for reasons that would have prevented the issuance of the license to the person under AS 08.76.110.
