9-203. Vacancies; bonds A. In case of the death, resignation or removal of the chief of police or marshal, city clerk or treasurer, the mayor and common council may fill the vacancy by appointment until the next general municipal election, at which time the office of chief of police or marshal shall be filled by election. B. The chief of police and treasurer shall give bond in a sum to be fixed and approved by the mayor and common council for the faithful performance of their duties.
