Section 12-29-106 - Mail to or from inmates

(a)(1) A person without the consent of the Director of the Division of Correction shall not bring into or carry out of a prison any letter or writing to or from any inmate.(2) A violation of this section is an unclassified misdemeanor punishable by a fine not exceeding one hundred dollars ($100), imprisonment not exceeding thirty (30) days, or both.(b) However, all inmates shall have the privilege, under the proper supervision and inspection of the director or his or her employees, to write and receive letters from their relations and friends.Amended by Act 2019, No. 910,§ 787, eff. 7/1/2019.Amended by Act 2017, No. 250,§ 23, eff. 8/1/2017.Amended by Act 2013, No. 295,§ 2, eff. 8/16/2013.Acts 1893, No. 76, § 53, p. 121; C. & M.
