Section 14-40-203 - Assignment of annexed territory to ward

(a) When any territory shall have been annexed to any incorporated town or city, it may be, and it is, the duty of the town or city council of the incorporated town or city to attach and incorporate the annexed territory to and in one (1) or more wards of the incorporated town or city lying adjacent thereto, which may be done by ordinance duly passed by a majority of the members elected to the council.(b) The territory so assigned and attached to a ward shall immediately be considered and become a part thereof as fully as any other part of it.Acts 1887, No. 14, § 1, p. 17; C. & M.
