(a) The board of civil service commissioners shall select annually on the first Monday of May one (1) of the commissioners to serve as chair of the commission.(b)(1) The chair shall preside over all meetings of the commission and be its executive officer.(2) The chair shall vote on questions before the board.(c)(1) In the absence of the chair, the board shall elect one (1) of its number to act instead of the chair.(2) The member so elected shall be clothed with all the powers, rights, and duties of the chair during the absence of the chair.Acts 1933, No. 28, § 2; 1949, No. 326, § 1; Pope's Dig., § 9946; Acts 1971, No. 166, § 1; A.S.A. 1947, §§ 19-1601.1, 19-1602; Acts 1989, No. 432, § 1; 1997, No. 131, § 1.
