Section 15-71-105 - Director of Production and Conservation

(a)(1) The Oil and Gas Commission may appoint one (1) Director of Production and Conservation.(2) The appointment under subdivision (a)(1) of this section is with the approval of the Governor.(3) The director serves at the pleasure of the Governor at the salary set by law.(4) The director shall report to the Secretary of the Department of Energy and Environment.(b) The commission and the Secretary of the Department of Energy and Environment may authorize the director to employ other assistants, petroleum and natural gas engineers, bookkeepers, auditors, gaugers, and stenographers and other employees as necessary to properly administer and enforce the provisions of this act.(c) The director shall: (1) Be the ex officio secretary of the commission;(2) Keep all minutes and records of the commission;(3) Collect and remit to the Treasurer of State all moneys collected by the commission;(4) Be the executive officer and administrator for all oil and gas activities regulated by the commission;(5) Initiate and settle a civil or an administrative action to compel compliance with: (A) A law administered by the commission; or(B) An order or rule issued by the commission;(6) Administer the
