Section 16-66-216 - Assignment or transfer of debt - Penalty for evasion

Whoever, either directly or indirectly, assigns or transfers any claims for debts against a citizen of this state for the purpose of having the claims for debts collected by proceedings in attachment, garnishment, or other process out of the wages or personal earnings of the debtor in courts outside of this state when the creditor, debtor, person, or corporation owing the money intended to be reached by the proceedings in attachment is each within the jurisdiction of the courts of this state shall be guilty of a violation and upon conviction shall be fined in any sum not less than ten dollars ($10.00) nor more than fifty dollars ($50.00).Acts 1909, No. 34, § 2, p. 77; C. & M.
