Section 18-42-101 - Contracts for more than one year to be in writing

A contract for services or labor for a period longer than one (1) year shall not entitle the parties to the benefits of this chapter unless the contract is in writing, signed by the parties, and witnessed by two (2) disinterested witnesses or acknowledged before an officer authorized by law to take an acknowledgment.Acts 1883, No. 96, § 2, p. 176; 1887, No. 78, § 1, p. 108; C. & M.
