All persons or corporations engaged in the business of common carrier shall be responsible as common carrier for all baggage or goods checked by them as baggage for forty-eight (48) hours after the baggage or goods checked as baggage have reached their destinations.Acts 1899, No. 34, § 1, p. 41; C. & M.
