Section 23-115-1001 - Legislative intent

(a) The purposes of this subchapter are to establish:(1) A policy and to provide a system whereby all claimant agencies of this state in conjunction with the Office of the Arkansas Lottery shall cooperate in identifying debtors who owe money to the state through its various claimant agencies or to persons on whose behalf the state and its claimant agencies act and who qualify for lottery prizes under this chapter from the office; and(2) Procedures for setting off against any prize the sum of any debt owed to the state or to persons on whose behalf the state and its claimant agencies act.(b) This subchapter shall be liberally construed to effectuate the purposes stated in subsection (a) of this section.Amended by Act 2015, No. 218,§ 25, eff. 2/26/2015.Acts 2009, No. 605, § 1; 2009, No. 606, § 1.
