Section 27-16-603 - Persons exempted from licensing

The following persons are exempt from licensing under this chapter:(1) A person who operates a motor vehicle for a military purpose:(A) While in the service of the:(i) United States Army, United States Air Force, United States Navy, United States Coast Guard, or United States Marine Corps; or(ii) National Guard and reserve components of the armed forces; or(B) While serving as a National Guard military technician;(2) Any person while operating or driving any road machine, farm tractor, or implement of husbandry temporarily operated or moved on a highway;(3) A nonresident who is at least sixteen (16) years of age and who has in his or her immediate possession a valid noncommercial driver's license issued to him or her in his or her home state or country may operate a motor vehicle in this state only as a noncommercial driver;(4) A nonresident who is at least eighteen (18) years of age and who has in his or her immediate possession a valid commercial driver's license issued to him or her by his or her home state or country may operate a motor vehicle in this state as a noncommercial driver or may operate a commercial motor vehicle as provided by § 27-23-123; and(5) Any nonresident
