Section 27-51-217 - Additional fine for moving violations committed in presence of minor

(a) In addition to any other sentence resulting from a plea of guilty or nolo contendere or a finding of guilty to a traffic violation under this subchapter, the sentencing court shall assess an additional fine of five dollars ($5.00) for reckless driving, § 27-50-308, or for speeding in excess of twenty miles per hour (20 m.p.h.) over the posted speed limit if the finder of fact determines that the traffic violation was committed while a person under eighteen (18) years of age was a passenger in the motor vehicle.(b) A fine assessed and collected under this section shall be remitted on or before the fifteenth day of the following month to the Arkansas Children's Advocacy Center Fund.Added by Act 2017, No. 714,§ 7, eff. 8/1/2017.
