(a)(1)(A) The driver of any vehicle involved in an accident resulting only in damage to fixtures or other property legally upon or adjacent to a highway shall take reasonable steps to locate and notify the owner or person in charge of the property of that fact and of his or her name and address and of the license plate number of the vehicle he or she is driving.(B) Reasonable steps may include leaving the person's contact information with the damaged vehicle or personal property if the owner of the damaged vehicle or personal property is not present at the accident.(2) Upon request and if available, the driver shall exhibit his or her driver's license or commercial driver's license and shall make report of the accident when and as required in § 27-53-202.(b) An accident of this nature shall include all accidents which occur upon the streets or highways, upon the parking area of private business establishments, or elsewhere throughout the state.Amended by Act 2017, No. 615,§ 3, eff. 8/1/2017.Acts 1937, No. 300, § 40; Pope's Dig., § 6698; A.S.A. 1947, § 75-905; Acts 1987, No. 88, § 4; 1995, No. 659, § 6.
