Section 5-27-501 - Purposes

(a) The primary purpose of this subchapter is to prohibit the production, sale, or distribution of a fraudulent or altered identification document to a person under twenty-one (21) years of age to prevent the use of the fraudulent or altered identification document to unlawfully purchase an alcoholic beverage or other substance or material restricted for adult purchase or possession in accordance with existing law.(b) The secondary purpose of this subchapter is to assign criminal liability to a person under twenty-one (21) years of age utilizing a fraudulent identification document for the purpose of unlawfully purchasing an alcoholic beverage or other substance or material restricted for adult purchase or possession in accordance with existing law.Acts 1991, No. 567, § 1.
