(a) Each education service cooperative shall establish a teacher center which will provide, consistent with funds available, curriculum development assistance, educational materials, and staff development services to teachers within the school districts in the service area.(b) A teacher center committee, composed of at least one (1) representative from the staff of each school district, shall advise the director and the governing body on the staffing, programs, and operation of the teacher center.(c) The governing body of each cooperative shall determine the initial composition of the teacher center committee to achieve a balance of elementary, middle school or junior high, and high school personnel and assure that at least one-half (1/2), but not more than two-thirds (2/3), of the members are classroom teachers.(d) All positions on the committee shall be assigned to school districts by lot.(e) Each teacher must be elected by colleagues in his or her school district, and each administrator or support person shall be appointed by the superintendent.(f) Initial terms shall be determined by lot for equal or nearly equal periods of one (1), two (2), and three (3) years.(g) Thereafter, ator or support person shall be appointed by the superintendent.(f) Initial terms shall be determined by lot for equal or nearly equal periods of one (1), two (2), and three (3) years.(g) Thereafter, terms shall be for three (3) years.(h) The committee shall meet at least three (3) times per year.(i) In the last meeting each year, positions represented by expiring terms shall be reassigned by lot.Acts 1985, No. 349, § 12; A.S.A. 1947, § 80-489.11.
