(a) There is created the Office of Education Renewal Zones.(b) The office shall be under the supervision of the Division of Elementary and Secondary Education.(c)(1) The Division of Elementary and Secondary Education shall select an individual to serve as the Director of the Office of Education Renewal Zones.(2) With guidance and approval from the Division of Elementary and Secondary Education, the Director of the Office of Education Renewal Zones shall be responsible for hiring all employees of the office.(3) The Commissioner of the Division of Higher Education shall assign one (1) individual from the staff of the Division of Higher Education to serve as a liaison to the office.(d) The office shall be responsible for developing guidelines for the approval of education renewal zone strategic plans and for the evaluation, reporting, and coordination of education renewal zone activities.(e) The office shall approve all strategic plans developed by the education renewal zones before the disbursal or annual renewal of funds to participating institutions of higher education.Amended by Act 2023, No. 786,§ 5, eff. 4/12/2023.Amended by Act 2021, No. 134,§ 1, eff. renewal zones before the disbursal or annual renewal of funds to participating institutions of higher education.Amended by Act 2023, No. 786,§ 5, eff. 4/12/2023.Amended by Act 2021, No. 134,§ 1, eff. 7/28/2021.Amended by Act 2019, No. 910,§ 1272, eff. 7/1/2019.Amended by Act 2019, No. 910,§ 1271, eff. 7/1/2019.Amended by Act 2019, No. 910,§ 1270, eff. 7/1/2019.Acts 2003 (2nd Ex.
