Section 6-16-151 - Activities - Payments prohibited - Definitions

(a) As used throughout Title 6, unless otherwise provided: (1) 'Extracurricular activity' means an intraschool activity not included in a regular curriculum, including without limitation sports and special interest clubs or groups;(2) 'Interscholastic activity' means an interschool activity not included in a regular curriculum, including without limitation sports and special interest clubs or groups that are subject to regulations of the Arkansas Activities Association; and(3) 'Organized physical activity course' means a school course that: (A) Is taught by an instructor who is licensed or qualified in physical education under State Board of Education rules; and(B) Involves body movement produced by skeletal muscles resulting in energy expenditures through organized group or class activities.(b) A public school student who participates in an extracurricular activity, interscholastic activity, or organized physical activity shall not be required to pay for individual or group instruction in order to participate in the extracurricular activity, interscholastic activity, or organized physical activity.Added by Act 2019, No. 847,§ 1, eff. 7/24/2019.
