Section 6-22-104 - Optional program - Requirements

(a) Each local school district may develop a registered volunteers program and may accept the services of volunteers who qualify under the program to assist in extracurricular and interscholastic activities that are sponsored by the district.(b) A school district that develops a registered volunteers program as set forth in this chapter shall:(1) Take actions as are necessary to develop meaningful opportunities for qualified volunteers to assist in extracurricular activities and interscholastic activities;(2) Take actions as are necessary to ensure that qualified volunteers have written job descriptions that define their duties and responsibilities;(3) Provide for the recognition of qualified volunteers who have offered exceptional service to the school district; and(4) Provide support for the volunteer program established under the State and Local Government Volunteers Act, § 21-13-101 et seq.(c) A registered volunteer in an athletic program for grades seven through twelve (7-12) shall meet the requirements adopted by the Arkansas Activities Association through the Coach Education Program of the National Federation of State High School Associations.Amended by Act 2015, No.
