Section 7-9-201 - Proposal and vote

Amendments to the Arkansas Constitution shall be proposed in either branch of the General Assembly in the form of a joint resolution, which shall be read in full on three (3) several days in each house unless the rules be suspended by two-thirds (2/3) of each house, when it may be read a second or third time on the same day. On the final passage of the proposed amendment through each house, the vote shall be taken by yeas and nays, and the names of the persons voting for and against it be entered on the journal. No amendment shall be proposed unless it is agreed to by a majority of all the members elected to each house.Acts 1879, No. 80, § 1, p. 128; C. & M.
