(a) Except as provided in subdivision (b), the term of office of the elected commissioners is three years from the date of their election and until their successors are qualified and elected.(b) With respect to the first elected members of the commission, one-third of the producers shall serve for one year, one-third of the producers and one cooperative handler and one independent handler shall serve for two years, and one-third of the producers and one cooperative handler and one independent handler shall serve for three years, with the determination of the term of each member to be made by lot.(c) An elected commissioner shall not serve more than three consecutive terms.(Added by Stats. 1983, Ch. 494, Sec. 1. Effective July 28, 1983.)
