(a) Except as provided in subdivision (b), any person who purposely takes any racing pigeon that at the time of taking is registered with a recognized organization is guilty of a misdemeanor.(b) This section does not apply to either of the following:(1) The taking of a registered racing pigeon by its owner.(2) The incidental take of a registered racing pigeon while shooting or taking a wild band-tailed pigeon or domestic pigeon (Columba livia).(Amended by Stats. 2023, Ch. 132, Sec. 71. (AB 1760) Effective January 1, 2024.)
