(a) If the department determines that the number of permitted vessels is less than 2,500, the department shall determine the number and vessel classification for which any new, original permits may be issued to bring the total number of permitted vessels to no more than 2,500.(b) New, original permits to be issued shall be authorized by vessel classifications established under Section 8238.(Amended by Stats. 2019, Ch. 472, Sec. 11.
