1226. When the records in the office of any public board or officer authorized to issue certificates show the issuance of a certificate other than a certificate of acknowledgment and it appears by affidavit that the certificate has been lost or destroyed by conflagration or other public calamity, the board or officer may issue a duplicate of the certificate. The duplicate shall recite the issuance and loss or destruction of the original and has the same force as the original.(Added by Stats. 1949, Ch. 82.)
