Notwithstanding Section 14670, the Director of General Services, with the consent of the Department of Mental Hygiene, may let to the City of Costa Mesa for a public purpose real property which belongs to the state and which is retained by the state primarily to provide a peripheral buffer area, or zone, between real property upon which is located a state hospital and adjacent real property, when the director deems such letting is in the best interests of the state.The lease shall be for a period not to exceed 20 years but the lease may provide for the renewing of the lease for an additional period not to exceed 20 years.(Added by Stats. 1965, Ch. 1951.)
