(a) The department, consistent with board rules, shall be responsible for the implementation of this chapter, which may provide for the establishment of eligibility criteria for participation, special job classifications, examination techniques, and appointment and appeals procedures.(b) This section shall become operative on January 1, 2022.(Amended (as amended by Stats. 2016, Ch. 86, Sec. 161) by Stats. 2020, Ch. 367, Sec. 4.
