21267. (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, any person entitled to the receipt of benefits from any state retirement system may authorize the payment of the benefits to be directly deposited by electronic fund transfer into the person’s account at the financial institution of his or her choice under a program for direct deposit by electronic transfer established pursuant to Section 21268. The direct deposit shall discharge the state agency’s obligation with respect to that payment.(b) Any payments directly deposited by electronic fund transfer following the date of death of a person who was entitled to the receipt of the benefits from a state retirement system shall be refunded to the retirement system.(Amended by Stats. 2004, Ch. 506, Sec. 2. Effective January 1, 2005.)
